How does Yung Sidekick work?
Yung Sidekick captures your session and automatically generates a transcript, and our Al creates progress notes and insightful therapy reports with analytics. For clients with multiple sessions, it compiles comprehensive 'meta' reports, offering detailed client histories and psychological profiles.
How accurate is the Al transcription and analysis?
We have worked hard to make the Al extremely accurate in transcribing and analyzing sessions. There may be minor speech recognition errors but these typically do not impact report quality. We continually refine our natural language processing to improve accuracy over time.
Will client confidentiality be protected?
Absolutely - client privacy is our top priority. We are fully HIPAA compliant and go further to protect privacy. We do not store any client personal information. Recordings are deleted after use and transcripts are anonymized. You can use IDs like "Client 1" to ensure no personal details are retained.
Can this integrate into my workflow?
You can capture your online sessions with our recording tool or upload an existing recording. You can also hold in-person sessions and capture them the same way, or use your phone or a laptop to record and then upload it to Yung Sidekick. The recording is immediately deleted from our servers after processing.
Can this work with my EHR?
Yes, reports can be easily copied or integrated into your existing clinical software and workflow. We aim to make Yung Sidekick seamless to use alongside your current tools.
What if I dont want to record the session?
No problem. Simply use our 'Dictate Recap' feature after your session and describe it in your own words (following our easy script). Immediately after, we will generate a Progress Note and all necessary reports for you
What level of consent is needed from clients?
Clients can consent in any written form. We provide a sample consent document for your convenience. The key is that the client understands how their data will be used and agrees to this.
How to sensitively raise the topic about recording the session with my client?
The existing research indicates that most psychotherapy patients are open to having their sessions recorded, especially when presented with clear benefits. While some patients may initially hesitate, particularly those with heightened paranoia or discomfort being recorded, most adjust quickly.
One study found patients benefited from being able to relisten to recordings between appointments. Patients reported it improved their recall, understanding of the sessions, and engagement in treatment. At Yung, we provide written session summaries for clients, which takes less time to review than full recordings.
Most therapists also endorse overall positive attitudes towards using recordings for patient review and clinical supervision.
Overall, the research suggests session recording is well accepted by most patients and therapists and feasible to implement as a standard practice. The evidence indicates it is beneficial for the therapy process when done appropriately. While more studies on optimal methods are warranted, the findings support the acceptability and utility of recordings.
We suggest presenting the option to clients as follows: "Would you be interested in receiving an Al-generated summary report after our sessions? This would require recording the session, but you would get a take-home overview of our discussion." This frames the choice around the client benefiting from the report, rather than just easing your own note-taking. Only clients opting-in would be recorded, rather than requiring consent from all.

Will it miss subtleties that I notice?
In some cases nuances like tone, expressions or requiring deep human understanding may be missed. Yung Sidekick augments but does not replace the therapist's skills and judgement. You will be able to customize reports if you notice anything missing.
How many minutes or sessions are included in each subscription plan, and how is that calculated?
The session number is an estimate of how many sessions you can complete with the subscription minutes provided, especially if you’re dictating recaps. We calculate the minimum session length as 15 minutes. So, the 130 sessions in the $39.99 plan are based on 15-minute sessions.

Yes, our Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is available here. It outlines the terms of our partnership with healthcare professionals when they qualify as a Covered Entity under HIPAA. By signing up for our platform, all Covered Entities automatically agree to the BAA.
