Responsible AI

Responsible AI

How Yung Sidekick builds AI tools you can trust.

1. Our Commitment

At Yung Sidekick, we believe that artificial intelligence should amplify human expertise — not replace it.
Our AI tools are designed to help mental health professionals streamline documentation, improve accuracy, and save time — all while preserving the therapist’s full clinical judgment and control.

We are committed to using AI responsibly, transparently, and in alignment with the highest ethical and clinical standards.

2. Human-in-the-Loop Model

Yung Sidekick operates under a human-in-the-loop framework.
AI assists in generating drafts, summaries, and note templates — but the clinician always remains the final author and decision-maker.

  • Clinicians review, edit, and approve all AI-generated outputs.

  • No notes, summaries, or clinical recommendations are ever finalized without human oversight.

  • Our system is designed to support clinical reasoning, not automate it.

This model ensures that the therapist’s professional expertise remains central to every note and decision.

3. Data Privacy and Security

We take privacy and confidentiality seriously.
Our AI systems are developed in accordance with HIPAA, GDPR, and PIPEDA standards.

  • No PHI/PII is used to train or fine-tune AI models.

  • All data processed through the platform is encrypted at rest and in transit.

  • Models are operated within secure, isolated environments, never shared publicly or used for cross-customer training.

  • Access is restricted based on least-privilege principles, with complete audit logging.

You can learn more about our data practices in the Data Security and Privacy Policy sections.

4. Ethical AI Principles

Our Responsible AI framework is built on four guiding principles:

  1. Transparency – We clearly explain how AI is used, what it can and cannot do, and where human input is required.

  2. Accountability – Every AI output is traceable to a human reviewer and version history.

  3. Fairness – We actively test our systems to minimize bias and avoid any language that could stigmatize or misrepresent clients.

Safety – AI tools are never used for diagnosis, risk assessment, or decision-making that could affect patient outcomes without professional review.

5. Model Governance and Monitoring

Model Evaluation: All AI components are tested for accuracy, bias, and reliability before deployment.

  • Continuous Monitoring: System performance is regularly audited for data drift, output quality, and ethical compliance.

  • User Feedback Loop: Clinician feedback directly informs model updates, ensuring the tool evolves based on real-world use cases.

We maintain internal AI Governance Logs documenting all changes, evaluations, and improvement cycles.

6. Limitations and Disclaimers

AI-generated content within Yung Sidekick is designed to assist documentation only and is not a diagnostic tool.
It does not provide therapeutic recommendations, treatment planning, or clinical decision-making.

Final responsibility for all documentation and interpretations rests with the licensed professional using the tool.

7. Continuous Improvement

Responsible AI is an ongoing process.
We conduct regular ethics reviews, collaborate with clinical experts, and update our policies in line with emerging international AI governance standards (e.g., EU AI Act, U.S. NIST AI Risk Management Framework).
