Research Study #1

Evaluating AI-Powered Automation of Therapy Session Notes

Problem

Documentation can take up to 20% of a clinician’s working hours - a burden that reduces time for client interaction, contributes to burnout, and increases administrative load.

Key research goals

Evaluate the effectiveness of the AI tool Yung Sidekick in automating therapy session documentation

Examine the impact of the AI tool Yung Sidekick on key therapist-related outcomes (time spent on administrative tasks, adherence to treatment plans, perceived therapy progress)

Methodologies used

Experimental, pilot randomized control trial

70 participants were randomly assigned to the experimental (n = 35) and control (n = 35) groups

Participants in the experimental group used Yung Sidekick, an AI tool designed to automate therapy session note-taking by extracting key session topics, symptoms, medications, and goals. The control group continued using their standard documentation practices.
